Ponte Vecchio, viewed from the Ponte Santa Trinita is the oldest surviving
bridge in Florence. It was built in 1345, the last in a succession
of bridges and fords on the site that dated back to Roman times.
Its picturesque shops were originally the domain of blacksmiths, butchers,
and tanners. |

Original Perseus in the Palazzo Vecchio is a bronze statue by Cellini
(1554). Perseus has beheaded Medusa and was intended to warn Cosimo
