Hal McIntosh is one of America's finest
young
baritones. He comes from the heart of the South and is proud of his
Southern and Scottish American heritage. Equally at home on the operatic
or musical theatre stage, he has been a national finalist in the Metropolitan
Opera auditions. He has sung many times in Carnegie Hall and has
also performed in New York's Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center.
He has performed extensively in North and South America, the U.K. and Finland.
Dr. Dick Goodwin, composer/arranger, conducts
the company's 30-piece orchestra and the quintet. He has written
virtually in every idiom, from jingle to opera, jazz band to orchestra.
Amoung his recent works are two symphonies, The Palmetto Symphony(1989) and Symphony 1991 for Winds and Percussion.
He is active as a performer (numerous foreign and domestic
tours with the Dick Goodwin Jazz Quintet) and as a recording studio producer.
Dr. Goodwin is a Professor of Composition at U.S.C. and was the 1992 recipient
of the prestigious U.S.C. Educational Foundation Award for Research in
Humanities and Social Sciences.
